Credentials
Dr. Saccone is a board-certified surgeon, credentialed by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Saccone is also a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS, FACFAS).
Education
Dr. Saccone graduated Magnum Cum Laude and received his undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics at Sonoma State University in California. He graduated class valedictorian, a Dean’s list member, an NCAA academic All-American in collegiate golf, and a Presidential Scholar.
Upon completion of his undergraduate studies, Dr. Saccone attended medical school at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. There again, Dr. Saccone graduated Magnum Cum Laude, first in his medical school class, served as class President, and was inducted into the distinguished national honor society, Phi Delta, for graduating in the top 10% of his medical class.
Residency
After graduating medical school, Dr. Saccone came to the University of Louisville and associated Jewish Hospital where he completed a 3-year Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency with Foot, Reconstructive Rearfoot, and Ankle training. He served as Chief Resident Surgeon in his final year of residency. During his surgical residency training, Dr. Saccone completed additional advanced training in the field of dermato-pathology.
Experience
Dr. Saccone has lectured in Belgium at the International Orthopedic Trauma Association conference where he presented his paper on the use of supra-malleolar osteotomies for foot and ankle correction. Dr. Saccone has also published scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Expertise
Dr. Saccone specializes in all aspects of foot and ankle trauma, diabetic limb salvage, elective cosmetic and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, as well as advanced micro-vascular surgical techniques.
Dr. Saccone also has expertise in skin conditions affecting the foot and ankle as well as being highly surgically trained in minimally invasive procedures of the foot and ankle including arthroscopic and endoscopic techniques and interventions.
Dr. Saccone is highly surgically trained in total joint replacements, ankle, hindfoot, midfoot, and foot fusions, along with foot and ankle trauma with reconstruction. He specializes in all diabetic charcot reconstruction, clubfoot reconstruction, flatfoot reconstruction, congenital and acquired limb deformity reconstruction, and ankle reconstruction.
Dr. Saccone has advanced training in the surgical and non-surgical management of all sports medicine injuries, pediatric foot and ankle conditions, surgery related to skin issues, soft tissue reconstructions including tendon transfers, tendon repairs, and ligament/tendon reconstruction.
